Pimples Treatment At Home

pimples treatment

Acne is a very common skin condition that affects both men and women, but the latter are more at risk. Acne causes small pimples in specific areas of the body, mostly on the face. These pimples are nothing more than skin inflammation caused by clogged pores infected with bacteria. Once the pores become infected, they swell up and get filled with pus.

One major reason behind acne breakout is excessive sebum secretion by the oil glands. As stated above, pimples generally occur on the face, but some other areas of body are also prone to developing pimples. These include neck, back, upper arms and shoulders. Though not a critical condition, acne can be distressing for anybody as it ruins their appearance.

Walk into any store and you will be bombarded with legions of creams, lotions and serums claiming to treat acne overnight. But don’t let any such claim scam you. Even if an over the counter anti-acne application is effective, it will be loaded with harsh chemicals that may trigger a series of other skin problems like skin thinning, pigmentation problem or may worsen the acne as well. This is why it is always recommended to go natural.

Simply Google “how to get rid of pimples” and you will get millions of searches within a few seconds. But a million dollar question is which one you should trust and try? There are dozens of time tested natural remedies that are really effective in treating acne. Here are some of them:

Ice your pimples:

The easiest and quickest way to reduce redness, swelling and inflammation caused by pimples is to ice them. Besides, icing also enhances blood circulation in the affected areas, improving the healing process. It also tightens skin pores, removing dirt and oil accumulation there. Use ice cubes for this purpose. You can also use crushed ice. Never apply ice directly to facial skin. Wrap ice in a clean piece of cloth and then hold it against the pimples for a minute or two.

Apply toothpaste:

Another at hand remedy to get rid of pimples is with toothpaste that you use every morning to brush your teeth. It is most effective when used after the ice remedy. Use white toothpaste only, gel toothpastes are not recommended. Apply pea-sized white toothpaste over the pimples before going to bed and leave it on overnight. In the morning wash your face as usual. Avoid using any harsh face wash. If you don’t want to leave it on overnight, make sure it remains on the pimples for at least 25-30 minutes.

Garlic Paste may be helpful:

Garlic is a natural antifungal and antiseptic agent. It helps reduce inflammation in the pimples. Sulfur present in garlic helps speed up healing process of pimples. Peel and crush two cloves of garlic. Rub the crushes garlic on the pimples and let sit for 5 to 7 minutes. Wash your face off with lukewarm water and pat dry. Repeat this remedy twice a day and you will notice significant improvement in appearance of pimples within a couple of weeks. Eating raw garlic may also prove helpful as it purifies blood. However, avoid eating too much garlic, as it can upset stomach.
