Hide Signs of Aging through Radiofrequency Treatments

radio frequency treatments

Radio frequency treatments are used for facial rejuvenation by treating early signs of aging like loose or sagging skin. It is a good treatment for people who have mild or moderate sagging of facial skin, usually they are above 30 and below 50 years of age. RF treatments are best known for skin tightening, face lift and fat reduction.

When radio frequency waves are projected to skin they penetrate into the deep dermis and subcutaneous layers and tighten the deep tissues structure and make improvements in skin condition. However, it does not make drastic change when used on overly wrinkled skin.

Why Radio frequency treatments:

RF technology is widely used for following procedures.

  • Face lifting
  • Neck lifting
  • Tightening and lifting droopy facial skin
  • Removing or at least reducing wrinkles and fine lines
  • Fat reduction
  • Skin tightening

Radio frequency cannot treat people who have excessive sagging of skin. In such cases, it can reduce saggy skin but cannot show a significant impact.

Prepare yourself for RF treatment:

Stay away from anything that can irritate your skin like sunbathing or scrubbing skin. Your surgeon may delay your treatment in account of your irritated skin.

Provide your medical history to your practitioner. Any previous skin allergies must be taken into account before scheduling a treatment.

The procedure:

The practitioner may ask you to wash your face to remove oils and makeup that may interfere with the treatment. An anesthetic cream will be applied to numb the skin that is normally removed before the start of the procedure. After the application of a gel the practitioner will start the procedure with a handheld device. Radio frequency waves emitting from the device, hit skin and their heat is used to contract facial tissues, thereby reducing wrinkles and changing appearance of skin. A soothing gel is applied on the treated area afterwards.

Number of sessions

Number of sessions needed depends upon the area under treatment and the reaction of your skin. Usually 6 to 20 sessions are needed to get perfect results. However, repeated treatment will be required after every 6 months to maintain the results.

Risks and complications:

  • Usually people have a mild redness right after the treatment but it disappears soon and individuals usually go back to their work the same day.
  • Swelling bumps and burns are other risks that can arise during and after RF treatment.
  • Your practitioner may require you to apply soothing lotion or gels to provide ease to the skin.
  • It is difficult to quantify the discomfort that a person may feel during radio frequency treatment because everyone has a different tolerance level for pain and discomfort. However, with the use of advance RF technology patients feel minimum pain and discomfort.
  • Appearance of a depression in the treated area is rare and should be taken seriously. Depression appears when tissues become overly tight due to overheating of underlying tissue and results in a sunken appearance or atrophy. It is generally said that atrophy occurs when the device is operated above the maximum frequency level suggested by the manufacturer.

Radio frequency treatments are practiced by clinicians all over the globe and are highly trusted for excellent results.
